Kosher in lexicography. Problems of one religion term
Dvořáková, Žaneta
The Hebrew term košer (‘kosher’) came into Czech through Jewish sociolect / ethnolect. It was originally a religious term for what is ritually pure and appropriate. In addition to the adjective and adverb košer, Czech dictionaries also contain a number of other forms and derivatives, but some of them are no longer used at the moment (e.g. košerný, košerně). Our evaluation is based on an analysis of material base from the Syn2015 Corpus and from a probe into contemporary texts in Jewish magazines or on the websites of Jewish communities and organizations. In Czech dictionaries, we may see a reduction of the meaning compared to how the term is traditionally used in the Jewish community, e.g. the adjective košer is limited to meat, the verb košerovat is associated only with the ritual slaughter. The nouns mentioned in the dictionaries are also very debatable: masculine košer in the sense of ‘butcher’ and masculine košer with the meanings of ‘cut’ and ‘food appropriate for Jews to eat’, these are based on isolated documents from the works of authors apparently unfamiliar with the Jewish community. The question then is whether (and according to what criteria) such words should be included in the dictionaries.
Dictionary for Mobile Devices with OS Android
Damborský, Tomáš ; Kouřil, Jan (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis deals with design and implementation of dictionary application for mobile device with an Android OS. The key feature of application is ability to perform fulltext search. This is achieved by using the SQLite database with Full Text Search extension. SQLite databases are generated from source lexical data in Lexical Markup Framework format.
User Interface for Multimedia Dictionary
Divácký, Roman ; Szőke, Igor (referee) ; Grézl, František (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis contains design and implementation of user interface for multimedia dictionary. The goal of this work is to create an application with support for voice input and to test the ability to recognize given words. The resulting dictionary allows to speak the desired word, without the need to type it. There is also a possibility to use your own text file with words and their translations.
Recognition of Isolated Words for Electronic Dictionaries
Hrdlička, Pavel ; Szőke, Igor (referee) ; Grézl, František (advisor)
This work is concerned with creation of isolated word recognizer for electronic dictionaires, testing its functionality on data sample and improvement by normalisation and speaker adaptation techniques. Word recognizer is built on HTK (Hidden Markov Model Toolkit). At the beginning of this document, the main aims of the work are set. In the next chapter is theoretical analysis, which describes process of recognition of isolated words with hidden Markov models. Next chapter specifies the speech data, which were used for testing. Other resources for building recognizer, like models, dictionary and grammar are described in next chapter. Before creation of recognizer, it was necessary to solve conversion between the phonemes set which was used in dictionary and set, which uses the recognizer. The recognizer was built with 8~kHz models first, than 16~kHz models were also used. Normalisation and speaker adaptation techniques were used. Obtained data were processed and results are analyzed in separate chapter. Finally is discussed, if the goals of the work were reached and what are the next steps of application development.
Integration of Voice Technologies on Mobile Platforms
Černičko, Sergij ; Černocký, Jan (referee) ; Schwarz, Petr (advisor)
The goal of the thesis is being familiar with methods a techniques used in speech processing. Describe the current state of research and development of speech technology. Project and implement server speech recognizer that uses BSAPI. Integrate client that will use server for speech recognition to mobile dictionaries of Lingea company.
XML Dictionary Tagging
Šubrt, Jan ; Grézl, František (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This Bachelor's thesis describes system for managing dictionaries in XML form. It also describes XML standard language family (XSLT, XPath, XSD, ...) and points out the qualities of computer processing of dictionaries stored in form of XML. The practical part shows translation of non-structured forms of dictionaries to XML using grammars.
Dictionary for Mobile Devices (iPad, iPhone, Android)
Boba, Peter ; Kouřil, Jan (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design and implementation of a system for creating dictionary databases, as well as design and implementation of an Android application that displays the dictionary data contained in these databases. Lexical data sources are structured using Lexical Markup Framework.
Android Application - Dictionary with Examples
Maňák, Libor ; Grézl, František (referee) ; Szőke, Igor (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with development of dictionary application for devices with Android operating system. The application provides examples in form of sentences, which can help users decide what translation variant is the right for them. This application is created as alternative for web service benimsozluk.com and there is cooperation between them. This thesis describes theoretical knowledge related to Android and development of this application. Parts of this thesis are dedicated to design as well as implementation of the application. The reader is introduced to testing conclusions. Testing was done for improving the application as well as for making an assessment of the application final state. In the final part potential future development of the application is drafted.
Multimedia System for Support of Languages Education
Drápal, Libor ; Eysselt, Miloš (referee) ; Kreslíková, Jitka (advisor)
This project is about electronic learning (e-learning). The first part of this document explains the meaning of the term e-learning, where it is used and what advantages and disadvantages has this type of learning compared to the other methods of learning. The user gets familiar with tools that create the electronic lesson and how to design the lesson. In the second part there are described different techniques and tools to create application interface, to display 3D graphic and to play audio records in different operating systems. In this part, there are described tools in more detail for the operating system Microsoft Windows. The goal of this project is to design and to realize the multimedia system for language education. With the use of 3D graphic and audio records the educational system was created with sophisticated appearance and comfortable control.
